54104 Family and Consumer Science
This is a comprehensive living skills course that will provide students with the basic information needed to balance home and work. Students will develop a range of skills related to personal development, interpersonal relationships, food and nutrition, clothing care and sewing skills. Students divide their class time between the classroom foods lab and the sewing lab.
54114 Family and Consumer Science II
This is a comprehensive course that expands on the basic living skills developed in Family & Consumer Science I. Topics include: food purchasing and meal preparation, clothing purchasing and construction, parenting and child growth and development. In this course, students also participate in the “Baby Think It Over” program. Students divide their time between the classroom, foods lab and sewing lab.
54124 Family and Consumer Science III
This is a comprehensive course that continues the skills from FACS I and II to prepare young adults for independent living. Topics include: money management, healthful eating, food preparation, choosing a career and caring for a home, sewing techniques, challenges of family life and career planning. Students divide their time between the classroom, foods lab and sewing lab.
