Welcome to B.M.C. Durfee High School of Fall River

Senior Robert Yarbough recently emerged as the Massachusetts Division 1 shot put champion. Yarbough, who had set a school record in the event earlier in the season, reset his own mark with a throw of 54' 9.5". This year, Yarbough was also part of the shot put relay team, along with Jesse Rubio and Timothy Helley, which established a new school mark with a 128' 9" showing.

He was not the only Durfee athlete to turn in solid performances at the post-season meets. The high jump relay team of Cameron Pontes, Ron Thomas and Zach Burrell won the Division 1 state title and then followed that up by duplicating the feat at the elite All-State Championships. Individually, Thomas placed 5th at the Division Meet and 4th at the All-state meet in the high jump.

Charles Kurgatt finished 6th at the Division 1 State Meet and 8th at the All-state Meet in the 1,000 meter event. The performances were all part of what has been a record-breaking season for the boys indoor track team.
