Our Communities

The Superintendent's office serves students who are enrolled in four elementary districts and one secondary school district in the five Hampshire County towns of Chesterfield, Goshen, Southampton, Westhampton and Williamsburg. With populations ranging from 900 to 5,600, these towns encompass 130 square miles in the scenic Berkshire foothills west of the Connecticut  River.

Combining New England countryside charm with the advantage of proximity to the cosmopolitan communities of Northampton and Amherst, the area offers the best of small-town living and access to a rich diversity of arts, music, and recreational opportunities. Five colleges within 20 miles (Smith, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire, Amherst and the University of Massachusetts) add immeasurably to the Pioneer Valley’s dynamic and eclectic atmosphere of culture and academic excitement.

Pioneer Valley communities offer a variety of housing opportunities encompassing the best of rural and suburban living.
